We’ve been based out of Village Matki for a good while now, right near the Ghunna post office in Saharanpur. It’s a quiet spot most days, though the dust from the road gets everywhere when the trucks are moving. Our main office is there in the village, but honestly, these days a lot of us are spending time down at the temporary site in Dholka. The address on Trasad Road is where the action is lately. It’s a long way from Saharanpur to Ahmedabad, but that’s just how the work goes. We have our files in both places, mostly stacked up on old desks. Sometimes the power goes out in the village and we just sit outside for a bit. There’s always someone coming by to ask about cement or looking for a day’s work. We don't have a fancy lobby or anything like that. Just a few chairs and a lot of maps on the wall showing where we need to be. The sun in Gujarat is a bit harsher than back home in UP, but we get used to it. Most of the guys have been with us for years, so we’re more like a big family than a company. We just keep our heads down and handle the daily grind of building things. It’s not always pretty, but the work gets finished eventually. We keep our tools in the back and hope the rain doesn't stall the schedule too much this month.
