Dhruvi Alang Furniture

You can find us down in the cellar of Gokul Complex on Subhash Road. We’re at shop LL 7, right near Avon School in the Gurukul area. Since we’re in the basement, it stays a bit cooler down here, which is nice during the summer. We deal with furniture that comes from Alang, so there’s always something interesting to look at. Some pieces have a bit of wear on them, but that’s the whole point of Alang stuff. We spend a lot of time polishing things up or tightening screws to make sure everything is sturdy. The space is a bit tight because furniture takes up a lot of room, so you have to watch your step when you walk through the aisles. It smells like wood and old polish down here most of the time. We don’t have big fancy lights, just enough to see what we’re working on. People from the school nearby sometimes drop in to see what’s new. It’s mostly just us moving heavy tables and chairs around to make more space. We aren't big on decorations ourselves; the furniture is the decoration. It’s a bit of a struggle getting the bigger pieces up the stairs and out to the street when someone buys them, but we manage somehow with a bit of help. We’ve been in this cellar for a while now and it suits us just fine. It’s a quiet spot to work away from all the main road noise.
