You can find Heena Screen Print near Chandola Talav, right in the middle of Sikender Market. It is a busy area, especially with the market nearby. The smell of the lake is always there, mixed with the smell of the printing ink we use. Our shop is usually pretty messy because screen printing is a dirty job. We have frames leaning against the walls and cans of ink sitting on every flat surface. Most days, we are busy pulling squeegees over the mesh to get the designs onto whatever the customer brought in. It takes a lot of time to dry everything, so there are often shirts or bags hanging from lines across the ceiling. We don't have a computer system to track everything; we just write it down in a big book on the desk. Sometimes the colors don't mix exactly how we thought, so we have to try again until it looks right. It’s a lot of physical work and your back starts to ache after a few hours at the table. The market noise outside is constant, with people shouting and bikes honking. We just keep our heads down and focus on the screens. It’s a small shop, but we have enough work to keep us busy from morning till night. We have been here for a few years now and most of the local traders know where to find us when they need something printed.
