About Balaji Wood Ply – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Ahmedabad
Our place is at number 150/113, and it’s basically a warehouse and sales spot for all things wood and plywood. If you walk in, the first thing you’ll notice is the smell of cut wood and the dust that seems to settle on everything no matter how much we clean. We have stacks of plywood sheets leaning against the walls, reaching almost to the ceiling. It’s a lot of heavy lifting here, moving those boards around for customers or when a new shipment arrives on a truck. We don't have a lobby or a waiting area. You just walk in and we’re there amongst the stacks of wood. The lighting isn't the best towards the back, so we use some handheld lights when we need to check the grain or the quality of a specific sheet. It’s a very hands-on job, and our hands are usually a bit rough from handling the material all day. We spend a lot of time with measuring tapes and markers, cutting things down to size or just checking the thickness of the ply. It’s a practical business, and we don't bother with anything that doesn't help us get the wood out the door. The space is a bit tight, but we’ve learned how to move the big sheets without hitting the walls or each other. It’s just how we work every day. It is simple and steady work.
