Associated Architect [i] Pvt Ltd is based out of B/2 Aishwarya Appartment, which is right opposite the Jalaram Temple in Ellisbridge. Being near the temple means there’s always something going on outside, especially on busy days when the bells are ringing and people are everywhere. Our office is a pretty functional space. We don't have any of those modern open-plan setups you see in magazines. It’s just rooms where we sit and work on building plans. Ellisbridge is an old part of town, and we’ve been here long enough to know most of the shortcuts and where to get the best snacks nearby. Most of our work involves a lot of sitting and clicking a mouse, or standing over a large table looking at blueprints that are too big to hold. We deal with a lot of different people, from structural engineers to folks just wanting to add a room to their house. It’s not always easy because everyone has a different idea of how things should look. We spend a good chunk of our day on the phone or out at sites where things are loud and messy. There’s a lot of dust involved in this job, and our shoes are rarely clean. We just try to make sure the buildings we design are solid and do what they’re supposed to do. It’s a practical way to earn a living, and we’re quite used to the daily routine here.
