Navbharat Sahitya Mandir

We have been around Ashram Road for a long time now. People know us for the books. If you walk into our place at Palican House, inside the GCCI compound, you will see piles of titles everywhere. It’s not fancy or anything, just a lot of literature and paper. We spend most of our days talking to people who still like reading physical books. Sometimes the office gets a bit crowded with new arrivals, but that is how a book place should look, I think. Navbharat Sahitya Mandir isn't a big flashy store. It’s more of a workspace where we sort out what goes on the shelves next. We deal with all sorts of writing. Dealing with publishers and local writers keeps us busy from morning till evening. It’s a quiet kind of work mostly. Sometimes the traffic on Ashram Road gets loud, but inside it’s just the smell of paper. We have been in this spot at 202 for a while. We don't really do much advertising. People just find us or they’ve been coming here for years. It’s a straightforward business. We keep the books moving and talk to whoever walks through the door. There’s always coffee or tea somewhere on a desk. It’s just us doing what we know. Nothing more to it than that. We just focus on the books we have and getting them to people who want to read them. It’s simple.
