Chitrakoot Building is one of those places everyone knows but no one remembers the name of until they are standing right in front of it. We are tucked away on the ground floor, right behind the Times of India office on Ashram Road. It is a hectic part of Ahmedabad, especially during the rush hour when everyone is trying to get somewhere else at once. At Madura Coats Pvt. Ltd., the day usually starts with checking what arrived late the previous evening. The office gets a bit of a breeze if we leave the door a certain way, but mostly it is just the hum of the old AC unit keeping us going. Being near the riverfront means the air feels a bit different, but we do not get much time to walk over there. Most of our time is spent looking at ledgers or talking to the delivery guys who always complain about the parking situation on Ashram Road. I cannot blame them; it is a nightmare most days. The building itself has seen better days, but it is sturdy and keeps the sun off. We have got a routine that hasn't changed much in years. We drink our tea, answer the phone, and try to keep the inventory from taking over the walkway. It is just regular work in a regular office, nothing like what you see in movies. We just keep things moving along behind the scenes while the city carries on.
