Anar Rubber Works

We've been here at Panchal Industrial Estate for quite a while now. It is unit number one, so right near the entrance. Most days it’s pretty loud with the machines running and that distinct smell of hot rubber that never really goes away, no matter how many windows we open. Some people might find it overwhelming, but to us, it just means things are moving. We started with just a few small presses and now the floor is pretty crowded. It’s a messy job sometimes. There are black marks on almost every surface and our hands are rarely clean by the time five o'clock rolls around. We spend a lot of time just checking the molds and making sure the batches come out okay. If something breaks, we usually fix it ourselves right there on the spot. It isn’t fancy work, but it’s what we know how to do. Sometimes the tea stall guy comes around twice a day and that’s usually the highlight when we can take a ten-minute break. The heat in the summer gets pretty bad inside the shed, but we’ve got some big fans going. We don’t really do big meetings or anything like that. We just look at what needs to be made for the day and get to it. Most of the guys have been working here for years, so we all know the quirks of each machine. It's just Anar Rubber Works, a plain shop doing its bit.
