Ambica Timber Mart (Bodakdev)

You can find us right on S G Road, almost directly opposite the Grand Bhagwati hotel. Being in Bodakdev means we see a lot of people passing through every day. We deal with all sorts of timber here. Wood is a tricky thing to work with sometimes. It moves and breathes depending on the weather. We have stacks of it here at the mart, from different types of hard and soft wood. Most of our day is spent moving planks around and talking to carpenters about their projects. It’s a dusty job, and our clothes usually show it by the time we head home. We aren't trying to be the biggest timber yard in town, just a reliable one for the neighborhood. People come here when they are building a house or maybe just need a single piece of wood for a repair at home. We don't do any flashy advertising. Word of mouth usually brings people in. The smell of fresh sawdust is always in the air here. It’s a bit of an old-school way of doing business, mostly just face to face conversations. We know which wood works best for doors and which is better for making furniture. It’s not a complicated setup. We have the space, the wood, and the knowledge of how to handle it. SG Road is always noisy with cars, but once you step into the yard, it’s all about the texture of the wood.
