Jivdaya Charitable Trust

Our place is on Panjrapol Road in Ahmedabad, specifically within the Panjrapol Campus. It’s a big area, and Jivdaya Charitable Trust takes up a good part of it. If you walk through the gates, you’ll immediately hear the animals. We spend our days looking after critters that don’t have anyone else to care for them. It’s not a clean or quiet job. There is a lot of cleaning up, feeding, and making sure the animals are comfortable. We have a lot of volunteers coming in and out, and the staff is always on their feet. Ahmedabad gets really hot, so making sure there is enough water and shade is a constant task. We don’t have a fancy corporate structure. We are just a group of people who end up spending more time with animals than with other humans sometimes. The Panjrapol Campus has a long history, and we feel like we are just doing our part in that long line of work. There’s always an emergency or something that needs fixing, so no two days are ever really the same. We don’t put on a show for anyone. If you visit, you’ll see us in our work clothes, probably covered in some dirt or hay. It’s honest, difficult work, and we stay here because the animals need the help. It is exhausting, but seeing an animal get better makes the long hours worth it.
