Aristo Florist

Our shop is at number 13 in the Shakuntal Complex. We’re in Ambawadi, right across from C N Vidyalaya. Ahmedabad is a fast city, and this street gets very crowded when school is starting or finishing. Aristo Florist is usually a bit of a mess with leaves and cut stems all over the floor. We try to keep it tidy, but when the fresh flowers arrive in the morning, things get hectic. We have big plastic buckets full of water everywhere to keep the plants from drying out in the heat. The air inside the shop is always a bit damp and smells like a garden. We don't have a big fancy storefront. It’s just a small space where we put together bouquets and arrangements. Our hands are usually a bit stained from the sap and the dirt. We’ve been in this complex for a good number of years now. We know the other shop owners and often share a morning tea with them. It’s a lot of standing on your feet all day. We don't use any fancy machines, just some sharp scissors and a bit of string. People come in looking for something for a wedding or a funeral, and we just do what we can to help. It’s a simple life surrounded by flowers.
