Alok Machine Tools

If you head down Gheekanta Road and look for Pittalia Bamba, you’ll find us near Bhagat Niwas. Alok Machine Tools has been in this spot for a long time. It’s an old part of the city, and the streets are narrow and always full of people and scooters. Our workshop is filled with the smell of oil and the sound of metal hitting metal. It’s not a clean environment, but that’s the nature of machine tools. We have grease on our hands most of the day. The floor is concrete and usually has some metal shavings scattered around. We don’t have much in the way of a front office. People just walk in off the street and ask if we have a specific part or if we can fix something. We spend a lot of time hunched over machines, measuring things and making adjustments. It’s honest work that requires a lot of patience. The heat in the summer can be quite something, especially with the machines running, so we drink a lot of water and take breaks in the shade. We aren't big on paperwork, though we keep the ledgers updated so we know where we stand. At the end of the day, we just wash up, lock the heavy doors, and head home. It’s a routine that hasn't changed much over the years. We just focus on the tools and the work in front of us right now.
