Our office is in the Mangalam building over in Nanpura. We’re on the third floor, Office 303. It’s a typical city building, nothing too special to look at from the outside. You take the lift up if it’s working, or just hike up the stairs if you want the exercise. Nanpura is always crowded, so finding a place to park a bike can be a real headache some mornings. We handle the steel business from here. It’s mostly phone calls and looking at spreadsheets all day. From the third floor, you get a decent view of the street movement, seeing the rickshaws and cars weaving around. It’s a bit noisy with the horns honking, but you get used to it after a week. We don’t have a showroom or anything like that. Just desks, some chairs for visitors, and a lot of paper. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but we haven’t gotten around to it yet. We’re too busy keeping track of the steel loads coming and going. Most of our day is spent talking to drivers or checking on deliveries. It’s practical work. No one wears a tie here. We just come in, do what needs doing, and head home when the sun goes down. It’s a straightforward operation in a busy part of the city. We often grab a quick snack from the vendors downstairs during our lunch break. The office cat usually sleeps in the corner.
