Our office is situated at 22 Dharamnagar Co Op Housing Society, right across from the Sabarmati Railway Station in Ahmedabad. It’s a lively spot to be in, mostly because of the constant noise from the trains and the passengers rushing to catch them. We’ve been here for some time now, and the housing society feels like a small village of its own. This space is basically a converted residential unit, so it has a very lived-in feel to it. The kitchen area is now where the printer and the water cooler stay. No one here acts as a receptionist; usually, whoever is closest to the door just lets people in. Ahmedabad summers are no joke, so a couple of old fans rattle quite a bit while keeping the air moving. From the window, the station entrance and the tea stalls are visible, which is where we usually go for a mid-morning break. The walls are covered with old calendars and a few project photos that have faded over the years. It’s not a corporate environment by any stretch of the imagination. Neighbors are known by name, and sometimes they pop in just to say hello or complain about the parking. It’s a comfortable place to run an infrastructure business because it keeps everyone connected to the city's pulse. Most of the time is just spent focusing on getting tasks done day by day without much celebration or unnecessary noise. It works for us.
