JASODA FABRICS LLP is tucked away in the Sumel Business Park, right near the Raipur Gate in Ahmedabad. Our spot is at C-17 on the ground floor, which is pretty convenient because we don’t have to deal with the elevators when we are moving goods in and out. Being behind the New Cloth Market means we are right in the heart of the old city’s trade. The traffic around Raipur Gate is legendary, and you really have to be careful when you are driving through those streets at noon. It is a loud and energetic place to work. There is always someone shouting for a rickshaw or the sound of iron shutters opening up in the morning. Our office is simple, with just enough space for our desks and the samples we keep on hand. We spend a lot of time talking to the merchants who pass through the business park. It’s a very social way to work because everyone in the cloth market knows each other. We drink a lot of chai from the local stall while discussing the prices and the latest arrivals. We don't have a big mission statement or anything like that. We just show up every morning, open the shop, and handle the fabric trades as they come. It is a gritty, honest way to make a living in Ahmedabad, and we have gotten used to the noise and the pace of the business park life.
