Barkville Foundation

Barkville Foundation is based out of Shela, which used to be a very quiet part of Ahmedabad but is growing so fast now. We are at bungalow number 37 in Vraj Dham Bungalows. It’s quite close to Shanti Asiatic School, which is how most people find us when they’re coming for the first time. Working out of a bungalow feels a lot better than being in a cramped high-rise office in the city center. We have a bit of outdoor space which is nice, though we spend most of the time inside handling the day-to-day stuff. Shela has a lot of dust lately because of all the new construction happening everywhere you look. Sometimes the water tankers and trucks make a lot of noise on the main road, but inside Vraj Dham, it stays relatively peaceful. We don’t have a big sign or anything fancy out front. It’s just a regular house where we do our work. Inside, it’s mostly just desks, some boxes of supplies, and a small area for tea. We like it here because it feels more like a home than a business. People from the neighborhood know us and sometimes stop by to say hello. We don’t have regular office hours in the strict sense, as there’s always something coming up that needs attention. It’s a bit messy sometimes with all the paperwork and the animal gear, but that’s just how it goes when you’re busy.
