White Gold Footwear is right in the middle of Meena Bazaar in Shahganj. If you know the bazaar, you know how crowded it gets, especially on the weekends. Our shop is small but we pack it with as many shoes as we can fit on the shelves. It’s usually a bit of a squeeze when more than three people come in at once. We’ve got all sorts of slippers, boots, and sandals. We don't do any big marketing. We just put the new styles out front and people stop to look. Sometimes the fans don't work and it gets hot, but that’s just life in the market. We have been here for years and know all the other shop owners nearby. We help each other out when someone needs change or a bit of help moving stuff. Selling shoes is mostly about finding the right size for someone who is in a hurry. We see all kinds of people walking through Shahganj. Some just come to look and some buy three pairs at once. We keep the boxes stacked high in the back. It’s a bit of a mess sometimes, but we manage to find what we need. We don't have a fancy website or a social media page. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for the crowd to arrive. It’s honest work and it keeps us very busy all day.
