Uvez General Store

Uvez General Store is over in the Rajpur Chungi area of Agra, specifically in Hari Nagar. This part of the city can get quite noisy with all the traffic near the Chungi, but our shop is a bit of a familiar spot for the locals. We’ve got shelves lined with the usual stuff like shampoo sachets, packets of chips, flour, and soft drinks. It’s hot in Agra for most of the year, so our fridge is always working hard to keep the water and soda cold. People often stop by just for a cold drink while they are walking through Rajpur. The shop isn't anything special to look at, just a regular storefront with some crates stacked outside. We open up pretty early because the workers heading out for the day like to grab their tobacco or snacks. I usually spend the quiet hours of the afternoon checking my inventory and making a list for the wholesaler. We don't have any fancy technology here, just a simple paper bill if someone asks for one. Mostly, it’s just about knowing which neighbor likes which brand of tea. We’ve seen the kids in this neighborhood grow up over the years. It’s hard work standing on your feet all day, but it’s what we do to get by. We don't try to compete with the big supermarkets in the city; we just stay here and provide what’s needed for the people living nearby in District Agra.
