Siddiqui Akbar Imdadi Dawakhana

Siddiqui Akbar Imdadi Dawakhana is a traditional medicine shop on Circular Road in Mohammadpur, Firozabad. We are located quite close to the Shishgrah Kabarsthan, which makes the shop easy for locals to find. The air inside the dawakhana always smells a bit like dried herbs and spices because of all the natural ingredients we keep in the wooden jars. We have been in Firozabad for a long time, and the shop has an old-fashioned feel to it with its dark wood counters and hand-written labels. Circular Road can be quite busy with rickshaws and pedestrians, but inside it stays relatively quiet. We spend our time mixing different preparations and talking to people who come in looking for traditional remedies. The floors are stone, and they stay cool even when the sun is beating down outside. We don't have a computer system; we do everything the old way, including the bookkeeping. My father and grandfather did things similarly, so we just keep the tradition going. Sometimes the jars need to be refilled, which takes up a lot of the afternoon. People trust us because we have been on this same street for so many years. We aren't interested in making the place look like a modern pharmacy. It is a dawakhana, and we like that it feels like a piece of history in the middle of Mohammadpur. We just keep our heads down and do the work every day.
