You can find Shri Ram General Store over on Mahadev Road in the Balkeshwar area of Agra. We’re right there in the Main Bazar, which is always a lively place to be. We keep a variety of items, mostly the things you’d need for your daily cooking or cleaning. It’s not a large place, but we try to make the most of the space we have. The shelves are packed with jars and packets of all sorts. Being in Balkeshwar means we get a lot of local residents coming through. We’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the neighborhood over the years. Some people just come in for a pack of matches, while others bring a long list for their monthly pantry needs. We don’t have a big marketing plan or anything like that. We just rely on being here every day and having what people want. Sometimes the deliveries are late or the weather is too hot, but the shop stays open. It’s a practical business. We know the value of a rupee, so we try to keep things affordable for our neighbors.
