Shri Mahaveer General Store

Shri Mahaveer General Store is tucked away in the Gadha Pada area of Agra, near the Main Bazar. It’s a very old part of the city with narrow lanes and houses built close together. Our shop is quite small, but we try to keep a bit of everything that a household might need. We have shelves full of soaps, detergents, toothbrushes, and various snacks like chips and local bhujia. The name on the board outside is Shri Mahaveer, which was my grandfather's choice. We open the shop early because the people in Gadha Pada like to finish their small errands before the sun gets too hot. There isn't much room to move around inside, especially when we get a delivery of new crates. I usually have to stack the extra boxes of soap or oil right by the entrance. It's a bit of a squeeze, but we make it work. The street outside is always full of activity, with people walking to the Main Bazar and kids playing nearby. We don't use any fancy technology, just a simple paper bill book and a calculator that’s missing a couple of buttons. Sometimes I sit on a wooden bench outside when business is slow, watching the people go by. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living, and we’ve been part of this neighborhood for a long time now. We just take each day as it comes and try to stay stocked up.
