Shri Krishana Gud (Jaggery) Udyog

Running Shri Krishana Gud (Jaggery) Udyog is a lot of hard work, especially during the peak seasons. We are located in Village-Gandai Khurd, which is part of the Bodla tehsil. Our unit is near the Post-Kharhatta area, so we are quite deep in the rural part of the region. The main thing you notice when you come here is the smell of the boiling sugarcane juice. It is a thick, sweet scent that stays in your clothes forever. We spend our days tending to the large vats where the juice turns into the golden jaggery people like to eat. The heat from the furnaces is intense, and we are always sweating, even in the winter months. It is a messy job, but there is something satisfying about seeing the liquid finally harden into blocks. We get our sugarcane from the fields nearby in Gandai Khurd. The farmers bring their carts loaded up high, and we get to work right away. We don't have any fancy packaging or big marketing plans. We just make the gud, wrap it up, and sell it to the people who know us or the traders who come through Bodla. It is a traditional way of living, following the cycles of the harvest. Sometimes the rain slows us down, or the wood for the fire is too damp, but we just keep going until the work is done.
