Shree Shyamji Ice & Cold Storage

Our facility is located on Kirawali Road in Achhnera, right near the Telephone Exchange by the Ring Road. Shree Shyamji Ice & Cold Storage is a pretty large building because we need the space for all the goods people store with us. It’s always very cold inside, even in the middle of summer, so we have to wear thick jackets all year round. The humming of the refrigeration units is a sound you never really stop hearing. We see a lot of trucks coming in from the Ring Road to drop off produce or other items that need to stay chilled. It’s a lot of moving pallets around with the jack. The floors are often a bit slippery from the frost, so we have to walk carefully. Being near the Telephone Exchange makes us easy to find if you’re heading towards the edge of town. We don't have much of a front office, just a small desk where we sign the logs. Most of the day is spent checking the gauges to make sure the temperature hasn't moved an inch. It’s a serious job because if things get warm, people lose their stock. We stay open late sometimes during harvest season when everyone is trying to get their stuff into storage at once. It’s just how the business goes in Achhnera and we’ve been doing it this way for a long time now. We just keep the engines running and the gates open.
