Pushpendra General Store

If you are driving past the Baye Pass Chauraha in Kirwali, you will see our store right there. Being on the Agra bypass means we get a lot of people who are just passing through and need a quick snack or a bottle of water. But we also serve the local people who live around the chauraha and need their daily supplies. It’s a very noisy location because of the horns and the heavy traffic going toward the city. We have stacks of biscuits and savory snacks near the front because they sell the fastest. Inside, the shelves are filled with laundry soap, toothpaste, and bags of flour. The floor is often a bit dirty because of the dust coming off the bypass road, no matter how much we sweep. We don't have fancy glass doors, just an open front that lets in the air and the noise. Sometimes we run out of change and have to ask customers if they have a smaller note, which usually leads to a bit of a laugh. The light inside isn't very bright, but we know the layout of the aisles by heart. It’s a busy life, especially during the festive seasons when everyone is buying extra sugar and oil. We just keep the shop going and try to make sure we don't run out of the basics that people depend on us for in this corner of Agra.
