Purna Store is a little place situated in Rakabganj, right near the Palidalg Crossing. If you know the crossing, you’ve probably walked past our front door a dozen times without thinking much of it. We sell a bit of everything that people in the neighborhood might need for their daily lives. It’s mostly essentials. The shop isn't very large, so we have to use every bit of wall space for shelving and hooks. It’s a busy corner of town, with lots of rickshaws and bikes buzzing by throughout the day. Sometimes the noise from the street makes it hard to hear customers, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. I started this store because I wanted to work for myself and stay close to my family. We open up early and don't really close until the street lights have been on for a good while. It’s a lot of standing on your feet and lifting crates, but I enjoy talking to the different people who stop in. We get all kinds of folks, from students to grandmothers living nearby. We don't have any fancy displays or neon signs to attract people. It’s just a regular storefront with a wooden counter and some shelves. We try to keep the staples in stock, like milk, bread, and sugar. If we run out of something, we usually get a fresh delivery by the next morning. It’s just a normal neighborhood shop doing its thing day in and day out.
