Piyush General Store

Piyush General Store is right at the Langade Ki Chowki in Agra. If you know the area, you know how loud and busy it gets around here. There’s always someone honking or a rickshaw trying to squeeze past the shop. We’ve been at this spot for years, and the store is just a small part of the chaos. I usually get here early to open the shutters and get the dust off the counter. Agra can be very hot, and the old fan inside doesn't do much when the sun is beating down on the street. We sell a bit of everything—shampoo sachets, matches, snacks, and whatever else the locals need. It’s not a place where you’d spend a lot of time browsing. People usually just shout what they want from the street, and I bag it up for them. Sometimes I get tired of the noise, but then I think about all the people I wouldn’t meet if I wasn't here. Every morning, the tea seller nearby brings over a cup, and we talk about the news or the prices of things going up. It’s a simple routine that hasn't changed much in a long time. We don't have any big goals; we just want to make sure the shelf isn't empty when someone comes looking for tea leaves or a bar of soap. It's just a regular life here at the chowki.
