We’ve got a small setup on Shamsabad Road in Rashmi Vihar. It’s a bit of a local spot, not like those big malls you see in the city. Our place is at number 40, and it’s basically where all the work happens. It’s mostly just a lot of small drawers filled with pendants and little jewelry pieces. We spend a lot of time under bright lights, checking the finish on things and making sure nothing is scratched. It’s quiet work, but it keeps your eyes busy. The road outside can get pretty hectic with scooters and rickshaws, so the front door stays shut to keep the dust out. We don’t have a big fancy storefront with lights; it’s more of a workspace where we pack up orders for people. Sometimes we get locals dropping in to see what’s new, and we show them whatever is on the bench at the moment. It’s a simple business. We spend our afternoons sorting through beads or metal parts and making sure the packets are labeled correctly. The staff here is just a couple of us who have been doing this for years. We aren’t trying to change the world, just making sure people get their jewelry on time and that it looks like it’s supposed to. It’s a decent way to spend the day in Rashmi Vihar. We usually stay until the street lights come on, then lock up and head home to start again tomorrow.
