Patiram General Store

Patiram General Store is out on Jagner Road in the Azizpur area of Agra. It’s a bit away from the main tourist parts of the city, which suits me just fine. The road can get very dusty when the wind picks up, so I’m always sweeping the front of the shop. I sell mostly basic stuff that the local families need—flour, oil, soap, and things for the kids. It’s a practical kind of place. I don't have fancy glass cases or bright neon signs. The shelves are made of simple wood and they’ve been there since my father’s time. I remember coming here as a boy and now I’m the one sitting behind the scale. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except for when the school nearby lets out and all the children come in for sweets. That’s usually the loudest part of my day. I don’t have a big warehouse, so I have to go into the main city a couple of times a week to get more stock. It’s a long trip and the traffic in Agra is always a bit of a nightmare. But it’s worth it to keep the shelves full. People around here depend on us for their daily needs, and I take that seriously even if I don't say it out loud. We aren't trying to grow into some big company. We are just a local store doing what we've always done for the people of Azizpur.
