New Lucky Store

My shop is right in the middle of Galla Mandi in the Taj Ganj area of Agra. Since we are so close to the Taj Mahal, we get a mix of people coming through. Some are tourists looking for water or a quick snack, but most are just locals living in the lanes around the market. The store is called New Lucky Store, though it has been here long enough that it isn't really new anymore. Galla Mandi is always a bit chaotic with trucks and carts moving grain around. I spend my days behind the counter, mostly selling things like tea, sugar, and household cleaners. The dust from the market gets everywhere so I spend a lot of time wiping down the jars. It's a noisy part of town but I've gotten used to it over the years. I don't use any fancy advertising. People just know we are here. The shop is quite narrow and the ceiling is high, so I have to use a long stick to reach the items on the top shelves. Sometimes I forget where I put things and it takes a minute to find them. That's just how it goes when you have a thousand small items in one place. I stay open late because the market stays busy until the sun goes down. It is a tired kind of work but I feel good at the end of the day. The tourists ask directions to the monument all the time.
