Nelson Locks

Our shop is located at 14/111 Madar Gate on Agra Road. We are directly across from the Maheshwari Girls Inter College. Because of the school there is always a lot of energy and noise outside our door. We’ve been in the lock business for a very long time. The shop is small and packed from floor to ceiling with every kind of lock and key you can imagine. It’s a bit dark inside and it smells like metal and lubricating oil. We spend most of our time at the workbench cutting keys or fixing old locks that people bring in. It’s detailed work and it requires a lot of patience. We don't have a big staff, just family members mostly. We don’t use computers for much of anything. We still do a lot of things by hand because that’s how we learned. People stop by to chat even if they don’t need a key made. It’s that kind of neighborhood. The traffic on Agra Road never really stops but we don’t even hear it anymore. We just keep working away at the bench. We aren’t looking to become a giant company. We just want to keep doing what we know how to do. It’s a traditional way of working and we are fine with that. We close the shutters every evening and head home.
