Naveen General Store

Naveen General Store is located at Langre Ki Chowki on the Ring Road in Agra. My father started this and now I spend most of my day here. The Ring Road is always busy with cars and bikes. We see the same faces every day, mostly neighbors from around 282004 area. The shop is small, but we cram a lot of stuff inside. It can be a bit of a mess when we get a fresh stock of snacks or household cleaners. I try to keep it organized, but sometimes there just isn't enough shelf space. In the winter, the morning air is cold because we're right near the open road. We keep the shutters half-down sometimes to stay warm. We sell mostly the basic things—biscuits, oil, pulses, and batteries. Nothing out of the ordinary. It’s a bit of a walk from the main city center, but the people living here don’t want to go that far for a packet of salt. I sit on the wooden stool near the entrance and watch the world go by. Sometimes my cousin comes to help out when I need to go for a lunch break. We don't have a computer or anything, just a notebook for keeping track of some credits for the regulars. It’s just a normal shop for normal people. We do our work and go home. Often we run out of change and have to ask customers for coins.
