Modern General Store

Modern General Store is my shop at Shop No 13/14 in the Railway Mkt. This is in Agra Cantt, Agra - 282001. Despite the name "Modern," it’s actually a pretty old-fashioned place. I have been here a long time, and the building shows its age. Being in the Railway Mkt means I get a lot of travelers passing through Agra Cantt. They usually want water bottles, biscuits, or maybe some soap if they forgot theirs. But I also have local regulars who live around the area. The shop is double-sized because it covers two units, so I can keep a lot of inventory. The shelves go all the way to the top. I use a ladder to reach the stuff at the back. The sounds of the trains and the whistles are always in the background here. It’s never really quiet. I spend my morning sweeping out the dust that blows in from the street and the tracks. The counter is old wood and has scratches from years of people putting their coins down. I don't have any fancy computer system, just a notebook where I keep track of what I need to order. It’s a busy, noisy spot but it’s where I’ve spent most of my life. Most people find us just by walking through the market toward the station. I usually have the radio playing some old songs while I wait for the next passenger to arrive.
