Jain Greneral Store

Jain Greneral Store is a small spot in the Main Market over in Aharan. It's been part of this street in Agra for years. We carry the usual things like pulses, oils, and the small packets of biscuits the kids like. The shop isn't very large, so things are stacked pretty high up to the ceiling sometimes. You might have to wait a second while we reach for something on the top shelf with a ladder. The floor is just plain concrete and we keep a fan going when it gets hot in the summer months. Being right here in the market means there is always noise from the road and people walking past. We get our supplies delivered a few times a week, so the front of the shop gets a bit crowded with boxes on those days. It’s nothing fancy, just a local store where you can get what you need without a fuss. We keep a ledger for the regulars and try to remember who likes which brand of tea. Sometimes the labels on the jars fade from the sun coming through the door, but the stuff inside is still fresh. Working here means seeing the same people every day and hearing about what is happening in the village. It is a quiet kind of work most of the time. We are just here from morning until the market shuts down at night.
