Hemendra General Store

In the middle of Band Gali, right by the Main Market in Agra, you will find Hemendra General Store. The lane is a bit narrow, so it stays a little cooler in the shade of the buildings. We have been here for a good amount of time, selling stuff like washing powder, toothpaste, and loose grains. The shop is fairly packed with goods, and sometimes things get a bit disorganized when we are busy. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy to bring people in. People just know we are here because we have been in the same spot for years. Dealing with the heat in Agra is a daily thing, so we keep the shop open wide to let the air move. Usually, we are busy in the evenings when everyone is coming home from work and realizes they forgot to buy salt or oil. We keep the heavy sacks of rice on the floor and the lighter snacks hanging from the ceiling on hooks. It's a bit of a tight squeeze to walk around inside, but it works for what we need to do. We know the local kids who come in for a single piece of candy and the older folks who want to talk about the weather while we bag their flour. It is just a plain store run by people who live right around the corner. We do our best to keep the prices fair.
