Hamid General Store

Hamid General Store is located in the Baldev Ganj part of Loha Mandi. This is a very busy part of Agra, and the 282001 area is always full of activity. Our shop is quite basic. We don’t have any big signs or bright lights. It is just a place where you can get your regular supplies without any fuss. The street outside is usually crowded with cycles and carts moving back and forth. We spend our day mostly behind the counter, reaching for things on the top shelves. We use a small ladder sometimes because the ceiling is high and we like to use all the space we have. Most of our customers live just a few minutes away. They come in for a single item or a whole bag of groceries. It doesn’t matter much to us. We just like being part of the local community here. The floor is made of old stone and it stays relatively cool even when the sun is beating down outside. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to use a torch to find things in the back. It is just how things are in this part of town. We keep the store open through the week because people always need something or the other. It’s not a big business, just a local shop where we know the names of the kids who come for biscuits. We try to keep things simple and honest for everyone.
