Dinesh General Store

Dinesh General Store is in Chota Baza Taj Ganj, Agra. It's a busy spot near the historic area. I spend most of my day sitting here, surrounded by stacks of items. We sell the usual things people need like soap, matches, snacks, and some basic medicines. The shop is small and the shelves are quite crowded. Sometimes it’s hard to find a specific item quickly when a customer is in a rush. My brother often helps me unload the supply rickshaws that come twice a week. We have to be careful with the glass jars of sweets so they don't break. The floor is made of old stone and gets quite dusty from the street traffic outside. We don’t have any fancy displays or bright lights. It's just a regular neighborhood store where people come to buy their daily needs. Sometimes the neighborhood kids stop by for a single piece of candy. We know almost everyone who lives on this street. The shop doesn’t have a computer, so I just do all the math in my head or on a small piece of paper. It’s a lot of hours, but it’s what we do. We try to keep the most popular brands in stock so nobody has to go far to find what they want. It’s a simple life, and we have been doing this for a long time now in this part of Agra. Most days we just sit and wait for the evening rush.
