Boby General Store

This shop sits on Awal Kheda Road right here in Barahan which is part of the Agra district. It’s a simple general store where we try to have whatever the local people might need on a daily basis. My name is Boby and I spend most of my day inside these four walls surrounded by boxes and bags. We have things like toothbrushes, hair oil, and a big variety of spices that we sell in small packets. The shelves are made of old wood and sometimes they creak when I put heavy things on them. I started this shop because there weren't many places nearby for the families on this road to get their basic supplies without going all the way into the town. It can get pretty lonely during the middle of the day when everyone is at work or hiding from the heat but it picks up again in the evening. I usually have a few glass jars of candy on the front counter for the children who come by after school. The floor needs sweeping a few times a day because of the dirt from the road outside. I don't have any big signs or bright lights just the name on the front and the door always open. Most of my customers are regulars who live just a few houses away and they often ask about my family while I’m weighing out their sugar or flour.
