Bharat Arts is tucked away in Taj Ganj, over in the Nai Awadi area at 5A/19, Tila Baluganj. It’s an old part of town, and we’ve been here long enough that most the neighbors know us. We do a lot of hand-painted stuff and sign work, mostly for people who walk in off the street or heard about us from a friend. The shop is small and always smells a bit like paint and wood shavings. It’s not the cleanest place in the world, to be honest. There are brushes in jars everywhere and half-finished projects leaning against the walls. My brother and I run the place. We don't have a big website or a sales team. We just do the work as it comes in. Sometimes it takes a little longer if we’re busy, but we do what we can. People come by because they know we’re right here in the neighborhood. It’s a quiet life mostly, except when the street gets busy outside. We use whatever materials we have on hand that work best for the job. You might find us sitting outside on the step when it's slow. We like talking to the locals. If you need something painted or a bit of art for your place, we’re usually around. It’s just how we make our living, and we’ve been doing it this way for years now. It’s a simple life.
