Baniya Babu General Store

I've been here at Shop No-8 for a while now. Taj Ganj is a busy place, but Nanda Bazar has its own rhythm that I’ve gotten used to over the years. People come in for small things, maybe some pulses or a bar of soap. We keep what locals need daily. Sometimes it gets quite dusty with the traffic nearby, but that's just Agra for you. My family helps out when it gets crowded, especially during the festival months. We don't have fancy glass shelves or bright lights, just the stuff people ask for every morning. It’s a small space, really, and things are tucked into every corner. You find Baniya Babu General Store right near the main bend in the market. I try to keep the stock fresh so nobody goes back disappointed when they’re looking for their usual brand of tea. It’s mostly just me behind the counter most days. Some days are slow and I just sit on the wooden bench, other days we can't even find time to eat lunch. We handle the basic household things like matches, salt, and flour. It’s been our spot for a long time. Dealing with the same faces every day makes the work feel less like a chore and more like just talking to neighbors. We aren't doing anything big or special, just keeping the shop open from early morning until the street lights come on. The neighborhood knows where to find us if they run out of something at the last minute.
