Apana Ghar General Store

Apana Ghar General Store is situated right in the Main Market of Ram Bag in Agra. We have been here for a good while now, dealing with all kinds of stuff that people need for their homes. People come in for small things, maybe a pack of biscuits, some salt, or washing powder. The shop isn't huge but we try to fit everything we can onto the wooden shelves. Sometimes it feels like there’s not enough room for two people to walk, but that’s just how it goes in a busy market. It is the 282001 area, so there are always people walking by our door. My father started this business and now we just keep it going every day. It’s mostly about knowing what the local neighbors want and keeping those things in stock. If someone asks for something specific that we don’t have, we try our best to get it for them next time. The morning starts with tea and pulling up the heavy iron shutters. Agra gets really hot in the summer, so the afternoons are usually pretty quiet. Then it picks up again when people are heading back home from their jobs. We don't do anything special or fancy, we just sell what is needed. Sometimes the inventory is a bit messy, but we know where every single item is hidden. It’s a local spot where people chat while they pay.
