Ankush General Store

Ankush General Store sits right at Tikonia Chauraha in Agra. It’s a very busy intersection. If you stand outside the shop, you see all kinds of vehicles going by all day long. The Main Bazar area here is always moving. I spend my days behind the counter, watching the world go by through the window. We sell snacks, batteries, soap, and all those small things you forget to buy at the big market. People on their way home from work often stop their scooters right in front to grab something quick. It gets a bit chaotic during rush hour. I keep a fan running behind me to deal with the heat. The shop isn't very large, but we use every inch of space. I've got things hanging from hooks and stacked on the floor. Sometimes I have to move three boxes just to get to one item. It’s a lot of lifting and moving stuff around. My hands are usually a bit dusty by the end of the shift. I know the other shopkeepers around the Chauraha, and we look out for each other. Agra can be a tough place to work in the summer, but we manage. I don't have any big plans to expand or anything. I just want to keep the shop going and make sure the shelves stay stocked. It’s a regular life in a regular part of the city. We keep a bucket of water near the door to keep the dust down.
