Ambay Boutique

Ambay Boutique is sitting right across from Dayal Lodge in Saran Nagar. The address is 37/17/23, which can be a bit tricky to find if you aren't looking closely. We have been in Dayal Bagh for a long time. This is a place where we do a lot of stitching and alterations. We take fabric that people bring in and turn them into suits or blouses. It’s a lot of work with the sewing machines running all day long. Sometimes the thread gets tangled or a needle breaks, but that’s just how it goes in a tailoring shop. We have a few racks where we hang the finished clothes. It’s not a huge showroom, just a working boutique. My mother started this and I help her now. We talk to the ladies about what kind of neck design they want or how long the sleeves should be. Agra has a lot of tailors, but people come back to us because we actually listen to what they need. We keep a notebook with all the measurements and names scribbled down. It’s dusty with all the fabric bits on the floor, but we try to keep the finished orders clean and packed. We don’t have a fancy delivery system. You just come by when we tell you it’s ready. Usually takes a week or so depending on how many orders we have. It’s a busy little shop but we like it that way. Just a local tailoring spot.
