You can find Aay Kay Fabrics at 20, Laxmi Nagar, in the Sikandra area. It’s a fairly straightforward place. We handle a lot of different fabrics every day, and the warehouse space gets pretty full. There is always a smell of new cotton and synthetic blends in the air. We don’t spend much time on fancy office work; mostly, we are moving bolts of cloth or talking to the guys who come to pick them up. The neighborhood is usually quite busy with traffic and people going about their business. We’ve got a small desk near the front where we keep our ledgers and phone. It gets a little cramped when a big delivery arrives, and we have to clear a path. We don’t have any slick marketing or a big team of sales people. It’s just us, making sure the fabric is cut right and packed well. Some days are longer than others, especially when a big order needs to go out by evening. We usually grab a quick lunch from the stall down the street. It’s a simple life here in Laxmi Nagar. We know our regulars by name, and they know us. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there, just trying to do our job decently. The machines hum all afternoon, and that’s the sound of work getting done. It's nothing special, just a regular day at the shop.
