Raj Builders is based at Plot No. 32 in Janakpuri Colony, over in New Shah Ganj. We’re quite close to the Ramnagar Ki Pulia, which is a good landmark if you’re trying to find us for the first time. The office is just a simple building on the plot. We usually have some piles of sand or bricks sitting around near the entrance depending on what project is starting. It’s a residential colony, so we try to keep the noise down, but construction is naturally a loud business. Inside, there are just a few tables with blueprints spread out and a couple of computers for the accounts. We spend a lot of our time out at different sites, checking on how the walls are going up or if the materials have arrived on time. We’ve been working in the New Shah Ganj area for quite some time now. It’s a local operation, and we know the neighborhood and the local rules well. Most people just walk in to ask about a small repair or a renovation they’re thinking about doing. We don't have a big corporate team; it's just a handful of us who handle the planning and the labor. The phone rings a lot with people asking for quotes or checking on project dates. We just try to keep things moving and get the houses finished for the families. It’s a practical life, dealing with cement, dust, and weather delays. We don’t have a glossy brochure.
