Surv Suvidha Departmental Store

Down here on Chittaranjan Road in Agartala, our store Surv Suvidha Departmental Store is a place where we keep a bit of everything. Since we call it a departmental store, people expect to find more than just the basics, so we try to fit as much as possible into the space we have. From cleaning liquids and mops to different kinds of packaged foods and toiletries, we have it all stacked up. The building is simple, and the floors are just plain stone. It gets very busy in the mornings when the local residents come out for their shopping before the heat of the day sets in. Agartala has its own pace, and we just follow that. We spend a lot of time checking the expiry dates and making sure the jars of pickles and jams are wiped clean. The lights inside aren't very bright, but everyone knows their way around the aisles. We don't do much in the way of decoration; the products themselves are the decor. When the monsoon hits this part of India, the rain hammers down on the roof and we have to move some of the bags away from the door to keep them dry. It is a practical business. We deal with the suppliers who come by with their vans and we try to get the stuff we need for the local kitchen requirements. It is just us working hard to keep the shelves full every day for the people nearby.
