Mata Bricks Industries

Mata Bricks Industries is out in Colagachia. We are situated in the Sidhai Mohan Pur area, specifically in the part known as Montola. It is a fairly rural spot which is good for making bricks because we need a lot of room for the drying racks. The site is usually quite dusty and the smell of the fires is always in the air during the burning season. We have a large chimney that you can see from quite a distance away. Our workers come from the nearby villages and they know the soil here very well. We don't have a lot of modern equipment, so a lot of the work is still done by hand. It is a slow process but it is what we know how to do. The Montola area is quiet, which helps us focus on the task at hand. We spend most of the year preparing the mud and then firing the kilns when the weather is dry enough for it. If it rains for too many days, we just have to sit and wait it out. That is just the nature of this kind of business. We don't have a polished office. There is just a small wooden desk where we keep the ledger and the records. We just provide bricks to whoever needs them in the district. It’s a simple life out here in the fields.
