District Hospital Gomati

Out here in Udaipur, things move a bit slower except for when the hospital gets crowded in the mornings. We are located over in the Pipariya area of Gomati. It is a bit of a trek for some folks coming from the deeper parts of Tripura, but they make it here somehow. The building itself is pretty old and has that heavy, damp feel during the monsoon months. You can see the green trees all around us, which is nice, but inside it is all white tiles and metal trolleys. We don’t really have a big marketing team or anyone to make the place look polished. It is just a bunch of us working the shifts. The benches in the waiting area are quite hard and people usually bring their own blankets or pillows if they have to stay. We see a lot of families coming in together, sometimes five or six people just for one patient. It gets noisy in the hallways with everyone talking at once. The staff room has an old kettle that takes forever to boil, but we need that tea to get through the afternoon slump. We are not trying to be the most modern place in the world, we are just the district hospital for the local people. It is functional, it is busy, and it is usually quite hot. That is just our daily life here in Udaipur.
