Cane Wood Crafts

Cane Wood Crafts is over here in Ward No-19 near the Lake Chowmuhani in Agartala. If you know where the ice factories are, you can find us pretty easily. We spend most of our time in the workshop dealing with piles of cane and various types of wood. It gets quite hot and dusty in here, especially in the afternoons, but that’s just how it goes when you’re sanding and cutting all day. We aren't some big corporation with a fancy office. It’s just a few of us using our hands and some old tools to make things for people around town. Sometimes the cane we get is a bit stubborn to bend, but we manage it eventually. The breeze from the lake helps a bit when the humidity gets high. We’ve been at this same spot for a long time now. Most of our neighbors know the sound of our saws by now. We don't have a lot of rules, we just show up and start working on whatever order came in last. We keep the scrap pieces in the corner for smaller jobs later on. The floor is never really clean, no matter how much we sweep. It’s a simple life and it keeps us busy. We don't do much talking, we just focus on getting the joints right and making sure things aren't wobbly. It’s a good place to work and we like being part of the neighborhood here.
