Srinivasa Earth Movers

We are based out of house number 17193 in Gandhi Nagar, which is part of the Khanapur area. We work with earth movers, the big machines that do all the digging and heavy lifting for construction projects around here. Our yard is usually filled with these large yellow machines when they aren't out on a job site somewhere in the district. Working with earth movers means there’s always a lot of mud and grease around, and the smell of diesel is pretty common. We spend a good portion of our time doing maintenance, like checking hydraulic lines and changing out worn-out parts so the machines don't break down. Khanapur is a place where there is always some kind of building work or road work going on, so our machines stay fairly busy throughout the year. When we aren't out at a site, we’re here in Gandhi Nagar getting things ready for the next call. It’s a noisy business, especially when we’re testing the engines or moving the buckets, but the neighbors are used to the sound by now. We don’t have a fancy showroom; people just come to the house or call us up when they have a lot of dirt that needs moving. The weather can make things tough sometimes—too much rain makes everything a muddy mess and slows us down—but we just deal with it as it comes. It’s a straightforward way to make a living for us.
