Rashi Cotton Company

Rashi Cotton Company is situated out here at Sy No 74/Aa in the village of Degaon. It is a quiet spot for most of the year until the cotton starts coming in from the local farms. Once that happens, everything gets moving very quickly. We spend a lot of our time checking the quality of the raw material that arrives at the gate. If the moisture level is too high, it causes a lot of problems for the processing. We use the open space we have to dry things out when we absolutely need to. The building itself isn't much to look at, just some sturdy walls and a corrugated roof that keeps the rain off our stock. Most of us here have worked with cotton since we were just kids. It is what Degaon is known for in this part of the country. We do not have a big marketing department or any sales people. We just talk to the farmers and the buyers directly on the phone or in person. Some days are slow and we just clean the equipment and sweep the floors. Other days, we don't even have enough time to sit down for a proper lunch. We keep the gates open early so the tractors can get inside the yard. The dust gets everywhere, no matter how much you try to sweep it up. It is just part of the trade we are in.
